What is a QCD? A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70½ or older to donate up to $111,000 in tax year 2026 directly from their IRA to a qualified charity without counting it as taxable income. A QCD can also satisfy part or all of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). To make a QCD gift to Shelter for Help in Emergency 1. Complete the form below. 2. Send it to your IRA custodian/financial institution (not to Shelter for Help in Emergency directly). 3. Your custodian will issue the distribution check payable to Shelter for Help in Emergency and send it directly to us. 4. Ask your custodian to include your name and address with the distribution so we can properly acknowledge your gift. Important Notes: QCDs must go directly from your IRA to the Shelter for Help in Emergency—funds cannot pass through your personal bank account. QCDs can only be made from IRAs (not 401(k)s, 403(b)s, or other retirement plans). Consult your tax advisor to confirm how a QCD will benefit your personal situation.
